Great Expectations

I re-read President Monson's talk "Great Expectations" this afternoon and cannot even begin to explain how much it touched my heart. I started to write down the quotes I loved from it...and ended up with about twenty, so thought a hyper link to the entire talk might just be better. enjoy.

I know that without a doubt President Monson is a prophet of God, and am so grateful for the incredible peace that comes through modern revelation. So excited for general conference!!

Rise To Your Potential

"...Rise to the great potential within [yourself]...Do the best you can, and the Lord will provide the rest. Have faith and confidence in Him, and you will see miracles happen in your life and the lives of your loved ones."

Love this. Loved the whole message from the first presidency this month, actually.

At the present moment, I feel like I'm bridging the gap between two stages of my life. A lot is about to change. I'm finishing my undergrad in eight months; I'm starting to look at different programs for my masters; I'm considering different offers of employment I've received; I'm trying to figure out where I want to live come April; and, ya know, just figuring out life :)

Thinking about all if this has made me become partially introverted in my thoughts this last month. Sorry for all of the blank staring I've been caught doing! Sometimes life just straight up scares me. But to be a little more specific, it's the unknown that scares me, which is why this quote means a lot to me.

So...my new self-pep talk: Rise to my potential. Have faith and confidence in my Heavenly Father. It'll all work out the way it's supposed to.

Southern Utah

Who's stoked for the holiday weekend?!

Southern Utah is definitely in my top five favorite places. Case in point: mountains, sunshine, hiking, climbing, biking, potential water fun, and the cabin. All enjoyed with friends. Plus I get to see my family. And I'm super excited to introduce Christy and her sister to all of it since this will be their first jaunt down there with me. love love love.

Cool, Elegant Grey

I'm going through a grey phase. Everything I buy and everything I paint right now is grey with pops of color.

Bedroom? Definitely painted three walls slate grey and one wall dark, charcoal, grey.
Wardrobe? Chalked full of black, white, and grey for the fall with pops of yellow, plum, and pale pink.
Bedding? Cream with a grey pattern.
Room Pillows? Cream, grey, and yellow.
Fave new purse? Grey. (Although I will always be attached to my yellow H&M bag)
Nails? were dark, just changed them to pale pink.
Eye makeup? Definitely a nude, natural look this fall, but when I do get done up...charcoal grey baby.
Blog? yup, grey.

Consensus: I may be going through a grey love affair.

One Day...

...when I grow up, I want to plan weddings. It's true. I love advertising and what I do for that, but seriously I LOVE wedding planning and design.

This one from Style Me Pretty (above snapshots) had me drooling this morning. Let's just say that whif (aka when/if) I get married, I want it to have this same feel. Cream, taupe, lace, simple elegance. Love it.

Now let's talk event planners. Lisa from Oh, How Charming! is phenom. Seriously. Check out the gallery on their site. loooooove.

-Had a very pleasant visit from a Mr. Danny Wilson and Ilene!
-Could NOT sleep at all last night. went to bed around one and woke up over 5 times. ridiculous.
-Late for my one and only business class. Good thing it's HUGE and nobody noticed.
-Ad Lab. Oh it's good to be back...may be returning to the NY soon (Sept.) for Ad Week?!?!
-And now at work.
-And then climbing. Eight PM with the lovely S&S, E&I, and of course Karis. So happy to be back with the mountains.

New Obsession

If there was one thing I learned while in France last year, it's that the French have fashion nailed. Ever since then my new goal in life has been to become more stylish (and not just fashionable). So naturally, you'll understand my recent obsession with Garance Dore's blog. Love it. And it's in French and English to boot. You should become obsessed as well, it's worth your time.

xo

PS this is my new inspiration and look I'm going for this fall...think I could do it? I'd have to agree with Garance on this one, I have such a girl crush. This girl's look is straight up fab. And I'm convinced I could actually pull this one off...love the thick blunt bangs and long hair.
