Hello Friend...

...I've missed you immensely this winter. Both Colorado and Utah have upwards of 300 days of blue skies every year. ie for the first 22 years of my life I've had upwards of 300 days of blue skies every year. If I had to guess how many Michigan has, I would say 60. Maybe. If you count the wannabe pastel blue skies of summer. Which would explain why my medicine cabinet suddenly looks like I've bought stock in Vitamin D. So, you can imagine my joy when I went outside today during work and was greeted by this:

Pure joy.

Five Hundred.

Sometimes I get stuck in a creative rut at work and need to get my brain thinking in different ways. Especially on the days where creativity seems foreign. My favorite game is 'what could I do with $500?' Seriously, works like a charm. 20 minutes later, and I'm all kinds of refreshed. You should definitely try this.

Here's today's list.

$500 equals...
-a one way ticket to Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, or Reykjavik (Iceland)*
-157 gallons of gas (US avg of $3.19 today), a little over 9 full tanks for me
-one 7 day adult pass at Vail
-approximately 5 new j.crew shirts, 4 dresses, 5 skirts, or 10x that amount at the j.crew outlet
-two lower bowl tickets to the bulls/jazz game
-introductory sailing lessons + a new pair of boat shoes or ray ban aviators
-two orchestra seats for Les Mis
-four new mud tires** for my car
-three tandem sky diving jumps at Skydive Hawaii
-two round trip flights to nyc
-20 pedicures from Juicy
-71 facials from Lush
-50 bouquets of fresh flowers from Nino's Market

I'm sitting on the fence between a one way ticket to Barcelona and the sailing lessons...although 71 facials is pretty alluring.

*I could probably spend an entire day browsing travel sites. seriously, those sites are so addicting. If only PTO days grew on trees. Or summer break still existed in the real world.
**I would kill for some summer time off roading riiiiiiiight about now. winter is so overrated without mountains to play in.

The Very Best Valentines

Want to see the most beautiful thing I've seen all winter?

Just look at that sunrise!

I may or may not have woken Bobby up at the ungodly hour of 6:30am on a Saturday morning just so he could see this. But so worth the early morning...right? In the spirit of Valentines? Maybe?

Valentine's weekend was amazing this year, even with an early morning Saturday.

Tall navy blue Hunter wellies for me. This boy knows me all too well!

A rearranged + redecorated bedroom with the best wall art ever for Bobby. I proooomise I'll post pictures on this later. When the walls are done.

Annnnnd.

A new kitty named Bella for me. Ahhhh.

Enamored.

I have never been as enamored by a series of ads than I was by the EF-Live the Language series I stumbled across this morning. Beautiful is really the only word that describes these.

Meet Coco

Blog, meet Coco. Coco, meet Blog.

I get to puppy sit this darling fur ball for the next two weeks and could NOT be happier about it. So far we have one road trip, three walks, & many sessions of catch under our belt.

I think this is going to be a good relationship.

A Grown Up Snow Day (!!!)

What happens on a professional snow day you ask?

You...

Watch the storm from the comfort of your bed.
Work from your bed until noon.
Stay in your PJs all day.
Don't put a speck of makeup on your face all day.
Go through all of your old photo booth pics by the time lunch hits.
Have time for a midday facial.
Take 700 new photo booth pics during + after said lunch time facial.
Laugh so hard at above photos you almost pee your pants.
Delete all but the one (semi) normal photo. See above.
Play with Coco.
Eat nothing but biscuits + herbal tea. Thank you sore throat.
Finish work by 5.
Have a movie in by 6.
Go to bed by 10.

Thank you snow day, you have been too kind to me today. Dare I say, I think I like you even more in the grown up world than the academic one.
